Hearing Health Foundation

48 million Americans have compromised hearing, and nearly 20% of American children will have permanent hearing loss, largely due to noise exposure. The Hearing Health Foundation's mission is to prevent and cure hearing loss and tinnitus through groundbreaking research, while promoting hearing health and bettering the lives of those with hearing loss.  The Meringoff Foundation’s operating grant to HHF will support its two signature research initiatives, the Hearing Restoration Project and Emerging Research Grants program.

"Our Hearing Restoration Project is an international consortium of top senior researchers focused on investigating hair cell regeneration as a cure for hearing loss and tinnitus. The overarching principle of the HRP consortium is collaboration. By having almost immediate access to each other’s data, HRP scientists are able to perform follow-up experiments much faster, rather than having to wait years until data are published.  This type of research is the key to a biological cure for hearing loss and tinnitus in our lifetime.
