Keen New York

KEEN New York empowers youth with disabilities by providing free, non-competitive one-to-one programs of exercise, fitness, and fun, led by volunteer coaches. Its vision is to foster confidence, self-esteem and community inclusion for youth with disabilities; strengthen communities through education of volunteers; and provide families with respite and a supportive network.

Funding from The Meringoff Family Foundation will allow KEEN to expand its Swim program, one of the organization’s most sought-after activities.  Our support will help KEEN reduce its wait list of nearly 150 young people.

"Our son Henry has Down Syndrome. Going to KEEN is his favorite activity and he vibrates with excitement when we tell him it's a KEEN weekend. Henry loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but he has trouble participating in group activities. KEEN is unique in that it provides him with a dedicated volunteer who allows him to direct his own activities while making sure he is safe and happy. We are grateful to have a place where he is treated with such warmth, enthusiasm, and appreciation for his abilities."
